MESQUITE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES EXCITING 2023–2024 SEASON AND EXTENSION OF MUSIC & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR'S CONTRACT

MESQUITE, TX (May 2, 2023) – The Mesquite Symphony Orchestra Association (MSOA) is proud to announce its thrilling 2023–2024 concert season, which includes an eclectic mix of orchestral masterpieces, modern compositions, and film and video game music. In addition, the MSOA is delighted to announce the extension of Music & Artistic Director Felix Torres' contract for three years through the end of the 2025–2026 season.

Board President Ashlie Skidmore expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "We are incredibly excited for the upcoming season and the continued partnership with our Music Director, Felix Torres. Under his leadership, the orchestra has grown artistically and expanded its reach, bringing exceptional performances to our community."

Music & Artistic Director Felix Torres also shared his excitement, stating, "I am honored to continue working with the talented musicians of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, and I'm looking forward to the amazing concerts we have planned for this season and into the future. Our goal is to bring exciting and diverse programs to our audience and contribute to the rich cultural landscape of Mesquite and beyond."

September 16, 2023 – Short Ride in America

Featuring John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine and William Grant Still's Afro-American Symphony

October 28, 2023 – The Adventures of Youth

Featuring John Williams' The Adventures of Indiana Jones, a World Premiere by local composer Nicolas Miranda, Julia Wolfe's Fountain of Youth, and the bilingual version of Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf (Pedro y el lobo)

December 16, 2023 – A Winter Celebration!

Featuring John Williams' Three Holiday Songs from Home Alone, A Musicological Journey Through the 12 Days of Christmas, Coleridge-Taylor's Ballade, and more

February 17, 2024 – Her Story

Featuring Florence Price's Piano Concerto with soloist Evan Mitchell and Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade

April 6, 2024 – Fantasy Unleashed

Featuring music from the Harry Potter Universe, Video Games Live, Katahj Copley's Equinox, and more

May 18, 2024 – Into the Fire

Featuring Víctor Agudelo's Algo va a suceder... and Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird
